Drove past pyramid lake on my way home from be-bopping around and couldn’t believe how many people were out there. Every beach had at least 8 cars and it was only 3pm. I thought the increased fees might push people away but I guess not. Heard the wardens are extra dicks though, a coworker of mine who frequents the lake got a ticket for parking ‘too close to shore’ at the same spot he’s been going for 10 years.

dam we were going to splurge and go fish it on Sunday. Usually out there 2 to 3 days a week for the past couple seasons (season pass).Huge push from the tribe starting last year about the closeness to the water. Got warned by a buddy who works For the FD there. I still ended up getting a warning one time. Beaches like popcorn it’s difficult since it’s a peninsula..

Ya know, I love NV, but it absolutely sucks to fish and hunt in this area. You buy your seasonal resident hunt and fish license for like $55. If you want to fish the CA lakes just outside of town, you're buying day passes or sucking the big dick of out of state yearly license fees. Pyramid Lake? That's Nevada! But nope, gotta buy another permit so the tribe gets their money too. Launch a boat? Pay more!

Want to hunt? apply for the lottery. Decent shot of pulling a tag 4 hours away. Want a decent chance at getting something? Burn your two weeks vacation to go to BFE to shoot an elk or sheep.

Maybe I'm just bitter because I grew up in Washington where I could fish salt water, fresh water, and hunt all sorts of small and big game with a standard license. Nevada and CA need to play nicer together with regards to licensing. I live like 3 miles from the CA border and god forbid I would want to fish at one of their lakes without spending a couple hundred bucks. I get it, I know how it works, but it's still stupid.

I don’t get how states can regulate hunting and fishing on federal land anyway. Should be able to buy a federal lands hunting and fishing license that covers the whole country.

I was able to get a lifetime CA fishing license about 10 years ago. I'm a cheap bastard so I'm not planning on dying until that sucker has paid for itself...just one more reason to keep kicking cancer's ass.

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
Meh, the Indians can keep their water hole to themselves for all I care. I love to fish. I don't love bullshit and (literally) petty tribalism.

Besides, I prefer to fish moving water anyway.

A 1lb brown in the truckee fights harder than a 15lb cutty in pyramid. I tell the truth.

agree with everyone thoughts too. It’s bullshit they raised the prices. It was a vote to do so even. They had options of other price adjustments but the picked the most extreme. Rumor is the tribe was making more money on federal subsidies during their shutdown. (Obviously places like Crosby’s got screwed)

I tend to agree, truckee has some fun fish. euro nymphing with a 3wt 11ft is a blast.. Pyramid is nice because you can chill on your ladder in one spot all day with a beer. Totally different experience.
