This is not in any way meant to make light of the current situation but there's a very good chance you guys will be housing most of the population of South Lake by Wednesday. It's not looking good with winds forecast to blow hard from the S-SW for Monday and Tuesday. Fuck.

Meyers and Christmas Valley are evac'd. Evac warnings in place from Emerald Bay to Pope's Beach. The terrain is too steep for them to have any chance of stopping it before Tahoe.

An evacuation depending on 50 (and some fleeing via Mount Rose Highway or back up to Truckee) is going to be a mess.

Fires this large burn until they run out of fuel or have a major wind shift that blows the head back on itself for a long period.

The suppression efforts are just a window dressing at this point. Especially with the fuel load that has been allowed to accumulate in the Tahoe basin and along 50.

Yep. The steepness of the topography and the forecast winds are not going to be good. If embers start blowing into South Lake proper structure defense won't be enough to stop a lot of homes from going up. It's going to be a tense few days for residents and the FD.

I really worry about the erosion that is going to impact 50 with mudslides this winter & next spring.

There was also lots of worry about the effect the Tahoe basin burning would have on the lake water clarity. Soil run off and ash fall in the lake.

That’s exactly where I live. Haven’t slept in over 2 days. I’m emotionally, physically, and mentally beat. But all good. Too lazy to type it all out again but here’s my IG post.

Anyone local retrofit the Safari hilux snorkel on a 2nd Gen? I need to do something to keep the dust out of my intake and the safari snorkel seems to be the lowest profile option but I'm hoping to take a look at one in person before purchasing.
