Hello! First post on the forum. Thanks for all the great info!!!

We have a couple of Tacos in our family. We have an 06 Prerunner 4.0L with 6spd MT, while my son has an 06 Prerunner Access Cab 2.7L, 5spd MT and he is at UNR. Looking for some suggestions for a mechanic/repair shop in Reno. Thinking he needs LCAs replaced, and would like to have a mechanic line up for other issues instead of being forced to find a place at the last minute. I've tried to do a little legwork and found the following:

Preferred Auto - 1705 Greg Street

Roy Foster - 490 Keystone Ave
Reno Vulcanizing - 3 different locations
    Foster's Sierra Auto Service - on 655 N. Sierra

Any comments on these or any other suggestions? Thanks in advance and appreciate any and all guidance and suggestions. Thanks!

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
For thread reference, I needed an alignment in a pinch on my lifted 2014 Tacoma. Reno Vulcanizing (Plumb? Moana - forget now) did a good job, quickly. There are better, but in a bind, they did the job well and for a fair price.

Why OV over the KDMax? I know little about either but OV was banned due to lack of responsiveness with people that had paid and were waiting for software and from the little I've read the KDMax product is better.

There’s also a KDMax tuner local in Reno. Only issue I have is dealer back in Phoenix wouldn’t update my TSB so I’d need whoever’s doin it for me to update that as well.

Hey all, I’m the authorized KDMAX vendor for the area. Feel free to reach out by PM. I’ll get all your questions answered and look forward to making your trucks drive as cool as they look!

    My opinion:
KDMAX over OVTune because it achieves everything that OVTune does and then some without sacrificing fuel economy or reliability. My biggest gripe about OV was the shift from third to fourth… the truck was a dog for the first few hundred RPMS until it found the powerband in 4th. Everything else was cool. KDMAX got rid of the above mentioned “issue” but is also all around a more refined. I’m also an OVTune Pro Tuner, so can certainly offer the OVTune. Choice is yours. We can do a try before you buy sort of thing if you want. Some details we’ll have to discuss, but I’m happy to help any way I can.

lastly, if we get a group of 5 or more, I can start offering group discounts.

Edit: TSB updates are included in the service so no need to fart around with the dealer pleading you case of why they should apply the update that is due to you as the owner of the vehicle. It’s crazy that it’s so hard to convince them to perform this service.

Sorry, but that’s above my level of knowledge. I’ll try to check my software to see if that year is supported though. If so, we can use our network to help out.

    you’re talking 2012 right?

Correct. I looked on the KDMax page and they don't support the 2nd Gen yet.

Not a big hurry since I don't have a blower yet, just figuring out my options.

I’m new to the Reno area and am lining up my next build as soon as funds become more available. Currently I’m in an apartment that is fairly strict about no working on cars in the parking lot, and all of my tools are buried in a storage unit. Any recommendations for fairly priced local shops to get parts installed or that let you use their lifts?

Right now I have a set of kings to get rebuilt, any local recommendations?
