I’ve got some 2x4’s that I can use when rocks aren’t accessible and I’ve got a shovel. I want to keep getting out regularly so I think it’s time for boards but can’t justify the MaxTrax

Anyone have experience with Carson city Toyota vs Dolan? Need to do the 3rd brake light recall and don’t trust Dolan techs. Have had some really bad past experiences when I had the free services. Debating going to carson or making a road trip somewhere else.

I had a decent service in Carson. They did what they were supposed to do not rude at all. Waiting room is good and there is a Starbucks across the street.

I just had mine done today at Fallon Ford-Toyota, good service an prompt since its smaller an not as much going on. I had my fuel pump recall done at Dolan no issues though, did most of my Toyota Care maintenance between there an Elko Motor Co.

Used Dolan for my rear main seal @49k miles. Warranty work- they gave me a 2020 platinum Tundra to drive while they did the repair. Just glad this happened when fuel was $2.50 per gallon, half a tank was $55

Carson was pretty sleazy when I was looking to buy my ‘19. Have used Dolan since and have been happy.

No, I was in Sparks the other morning, had wide fenders/bed & suspension. I was stuffing my face with a super burrito or I would have taken a picture.

I really haven’t had any good experiences with Dolan Toyota. Dolan Lexus was awesome when I had my IS.

When I was looking to trade in my IS for a Tacoma they tried to screw me on the trade in saying there was body work done that was really bad. The body work was fine and their body shop was the one that did it. It was shady.

I ended up buying from Carson City and they were great. Never serviced there though because it was too far to drive and wait around. Always serviced at Dolan and had tons of issues. Mostly them just jerking me around.

Around 10k miles I had an issue with the crank position sensor that was common on 3rd gens. Engine died multiple times while driving on the freeway. Had it towed in and it had a bunch of codes but once it cooled down you couldn’t recreate it. They said they couldn’t do anything unless they could recreate it even though there were codes that pointed to the sensor. Ended up just buying the sensor and replacing it myself.

I also (still) have the other somewhat common issue of the timing chain cover leaking. Took it in 3 separate times and every time they gave me a different excuse. First time they said it was grease flung up from the front driveshaft even though that’s impossible. Second time they said it was road debris kicked up. Third time after they put UV in they said there was no sign of UV anywhere so it wasn’t an oil leak even though it’s obvious it is. Called and complained to Toyota corporate and they said they couldn't do anything because dealers are privately owned. Service manager called me and just told me to bring it in again and they’d take a look. Didn’t want to keep getting jerked around so never pushed it further.

Anyways. Fuck Dolan. Reno area sucks for anything car dealer because there’s no competition like in Sacramento or the Bay Area where there’s a dozen Toyota dealers you can choose from.

I’ve been going to Carson ever since I freaked out on Dolan and caused a huge scene . People came out of the wood works and backed me up all with same complaints . Carson I think has better customer service however … the wait times have been insane for some of the minor issues I’ve had addressed there

Dolan left a rag and a wrench in my engine bay during the free services. A buddy recently had them forget to put the coolant cap back on in the engine bay, did not realize until he was down in Vegas. Caused a bunch of issues. There are a million stories about how shitty Dolan is.

Recently shattered my wrist, was curious to see how much Dolan would charge to swap out spark plugs since its hard for me... Their hourly rate is $190 and they bill 3.5 hours to replace spark plugs. The service managers justification for the pricing was "if you owned a car dealership wouldn't you charge by the labor book instead of the actual time it takes if its more profitable". Its hard to support a place who is so bluntly anti-customer.

Going to give Carson a try for the brake light recall.
