I need a 4' piece of 3" square steel. I used to go to a place on 4th street but not sure if it's still there. Anyone have recommendations for a steel shop?

…Reno Salvage, definitely still there. That’s where I go too. Seemed a bit overpriced even before the shortages though. Don’t pass out when you get the price on something like that!

Oof. Our 26g sheet steel has just over doubled in cost since the world went mad. A 4x10 sheet of 24g stainless is almost $500...

Lordy. I asked the dude what I would have paid before the BS and he said the same, about 50% less.

On the way there I told myself I wouldn't spend more than $20/ft. Close enough and I didn't want to lose momentum on my project!

Metal is insane right now, I work in HVAC now as an engineer and its absurd. Tons of projects getting put on the back burner by owners.

Yeah, I'm an hvac tech/commercial installer, between metal being crazy expensive and equipment being hard to get we're not having a great time.

KBB puts the value of my truck at $28,860. I'm asking $29,900 to account for the shell, roof rack, and other extras, which is consistent with other sales here. My truck was $44k new with the shell, so I don't think comparing our trucks is apples to apples.

Out of curiosity, I called Dolan to see what things looked like for a '22 TRD OR. They quoted me 5-6 months wait time, and would not commit to MSRP, saying "we have a ton of people on the waitlist"

I agree it is a weird time, and unfortunate that the new Omicron Surge in China/Taiwan is only going to make the chip shortage worse in the short-term. I'm very fortunate I have other cars and no longer commute.

Meh. It's like Fuji to Granny Smith. Same engine, drive train, etc. I didn't intend it as a dig on your price, just an observation.

I actually owned a 2011 TRD prior to this one (and a 2009 prior to that), so I'm pretty familiar with the intra-generational changes. Amongst other things, the 2013 midcycle refresh made the cabin much more livable and the handling/feel is also better on this one than any of my previous Tacos (although I don't know how to attribute that to changes in suspension tuning or the meatier wheels/tires from the T|X PRO package).

I'd say comparing our trucks is more like Granny Smith to Anjou Pear :D Jokes aside though, I do like your rig - just having a laugh

For the record, I also bought a 2017 Gen 3 Taco new to replace this 2013, but ended up selling the 2017 after determining I liked this truck better. There is just something "special" about Gen 2.
