Last night came in strong still. And it is powder too.

Talk about a salvation storm for the ski resorts. Probably a lot of people playing hooky this week. LOL

Parked Friday evening

 

At 5000' on the dot, first batch dumped a hair under 11" on my patio table. Cleared the driveway and all that fun stuff Saturday morning and drank 'sweetened' coffee the rest of the day.

Last night dumped another 6" on the nose, but more on the powdery side. I need to convince the wife to swap her car for a truck, then I don't have to shovel anything again.

 

Garden pump sprayer + alcohol = no more snow/ice

 

I typically apply the alcohol internally.

Doesn't help with snow/ice though...

 

My 1st gen was clean on Thursday.

 

Pondered that. I have the sprayer, I just need 5 gallons of the right liquid. Would that cheap RV antifreeze stuff work?

 

Do two parts rubbing alcohol and one part water. You can add a bit of liquid dish detergent if you want …like a teaspoon for every quart of solution you make.

 

…the antifreeze will likely be cheaper but use with caution as it is very toxic to animals and not so great for your grass, etc.

 

Left over liquid (not gel) hand sanitizer works great and people are trying to get rid of. Came in gallon jugs....stuff that was basically just rubbing alcohol.

 

Was hoping carson pass would open today so I head down there, then get stuck in washoe traffic since the highway through washoe valley was closed for some reason, then the plan was heavenly since there was no news on carson pass, but that traffic took an hour so by that time 88 did open!
I was in 2 wheel the whole time on 88 and think there was 2 patches of snow on the road for a total of 10 feet. Interesting they waited to open that road for it to be so cleared. Last year drove that in whiteout multiple times and they kept it movin.

TLDR, fuck random washoe highway closure and Kirkwood is such a good mountain

 

Reno area trivia. Just so I can let you know that I may lurk now, but I used to belong.
J.R. had a Charger RT. He wanted to know if he could get it up to 100 in Washoe Valley.
He, his brother Ed, friend Ron, and I were in the car when he did it. Ron watched the speedometer. I was still in high school.

I drove over 100 going to Lahontan Reservoir, but thats more space.

The payoff the storm today. Took this at Diamond Peak from solitude canyon.

 

East lake has a lot of small lots/homes. West valley is still ranchettes and larger homes (mostly along the mountain base).

 

100mph? That's not uncommon on 580, 395, 50, 80 etc these days in this thing...
