I have never had a complaint about my brakes. They are fine.

I drive a 2017 Colorado access cab for work. It’s a good work truck. It has a great slow drop tailgate.

Tail lights suck - they have 4 dual filament bulbs and seems one burns out every other month.

Also in 4x4 there is no dash light to let you know it’s in 4wd...the switch is on the left next to the headlights switch which is also round and I regularly turn the wrong knob cause the steering wheel blocks your sight line.

    Seating position is good.

always glad to get into my Tacoma and drive away at the end of the day though.

I needed a rental the other month. They gave me a 2020 Silverado, wasn't bad. The thing float left to right while driving down the road. Auto start and stop was terrible, I didn't want to press the brake pedal all the way down while stop at red lights to keep the engine from shutting off. Then every time I got out of the truck, I was alerted to look for children in the back seats.

Damn thing made me feel anxious and schizophrenic when I drove it.

I briefly looked at the Colorado before I bought my Tacoma. The rear seat fold down in the Colorado is a total failure. I could not trust their design engineers if that adbomination is the best they could come up with for a seat fold down. They weren't even close on that.

Are they actually better, or just more sensitive? Pedal feel is no way to judge quality of brakes. Everybody who's driven more than one vehicle in their life knows when they get into a car with more sensitive brakes it feels pretty different for awhile and in the case of more sensitive brakes they often feel better. Has nothing to do with how "good" the brakes are.

I just changed my front and rear brake lines out with stainless braided lines and notice a huge difference in brake pedal feel and responsiveness. One of the top three mods I have done to my truck so far.

My TRD OR brakes are fantastic. I really feel for you guys that have a legitimate gripe here.

Before buying my '15 TRD OR Prerunner, I test drove a '15 Chevy Colorado LT. There was a lot to like about the Colorado, the interior comfort, smooth ride, low speed on-pavement handling (more like a passenger vehicle). It had features I desired: fog lights, tow package and a locking diff. Long bed was a bonus. The price was nice. I really wanted to fall in love, but it didn't happen. I instantly hated the transmission, knew I'd never be happy with it. I didn't note any difference comparing brakes between the two.

Numerous online sources have done comparison with the Tacoma, Ranger, Colorado and Frontier.

It's amazing how often the Colorado comes out on top. l think it's Toyota sitting on it's hands doing nothing about real upgrades to remain competitive.

Don't get me wrong. I love my Tacoma, and wouldn't trade it for anything else out there. Plus the yearly sales say a lot. But the competition is getting up there in numbers with each passing year.

Much of the buying public doesn't have any brand loyalty whatsoever. So they'll buy whatever 'seems' better.

After watching SMA for a while I’ll just say the whole Toyota being more reliable than GM or any other domestic brand is true. I will say no car is perfect though

This. I have a 2012 Prerunner and had to do an emergency stop this morning when some broad pulled out in front of me doing 50 in the rain. ABS worked as designed and I steered between her and the vehicle on my left.

The Sequoia has 4 wheel disc brakes and the Tundra has front disc and rear drums. To use the Sequoia you would have to install rear disc brakes as well.

If you have a drill, drill bits, and a hacksaw/grinder with a cut off wheel you can make your own. 0.125"x0.75" flat bar bent into a yoke and use a 10x1.25mm speednut to attach the yoke to the booster.
    20200221_071138.jpg
There isn't any pressure on the yoke that would cause it to separate from the booster's actuating rod. All of the pressure forces the yoke onto the actuating rod.

Someday I'm going to offer a Tundra booster/MC install kit for a Tacoma and it'll be less than $30 shipped. I have other ideas in front of this one. I'll also offer one for the Sequoia booster/MC for the same price. $190 is absolutely f_______g ridiculous!!

wait.... w. t. f. Why in the hell does a gas motor need a vacuum pump for a vacuum brake booster..... freaking GM. They literally created their own problems... they have a powersteering hydraulic assisted master cylinder that they have used forever on their 2500+ sized trucks that would solve all those issues with less parts.

The Colorado engine must have a huge bumpstick and doesn't create any vacuum.

Looking at the other guys setup in the post you referenced it looks like I could substitute either loctite or epoxy and place of the welding. I have a machining station for making AR receivers...so the "flat bar" part is handled. Its just not a full on CNC machine.

I'd have to see what you mean. It depends on where you're planning on putting the epoxy.

You could use 2 regular 10x1.25mm nuts instead of a speednut as well. There's no pressure whatsoever that would separate the actuating rod of the booster from the yoke.

I definitely wouldn't use epoxy to mate up 2 yokes.
