Greetings, just painted my wheels flat black with rustolium flat black spray paint. Spent all day sanding down my aluminum wheels, taping off wheels, priming with self etching and then painting. To the point, the wheels look great in every way except they’re not black, they’re grey, almost green in the sun.
I’m repainting the wheels and I’m going to go with satin black.
I’d like to save myself some time in terms of prep. Not trying to halfass anything, I just don’t want to do anything that I don’t have to. The wheels have cured for a week, have multiple layers of self etching primer and flat black. What would y’all recommend in terms of sanding, grit...
Any other advice is welcome. Thank you!

I took my wheels to a local wheel repair shop and had my wheels powder coated. I didn't want to have to clean/sand/prep and spray paint my wheels. It costs me $500 to $600, but the finish is strong & durable. That being said, I did have to sand/prep/ clean/paint the center caps since the local wheel repair shop didn't want to paint my center caps stating that they're worn and beat up looking. BS!

I also had my wheels "remanufactured" using black powder coating and I love them. Cost was right around $600 and the shop had my truck for 2 days. The cost included dismount, remanufacturing the wheels (removal of all old powdercoating, minor repairs to the aluminum, powdercoating, recutting the face of the wheels, and clear coat), remount and balancing. I'm really happy with how they turned out and would do it again in a heartbeat.
