This winter, in my 2013 4D long bed base, I have noticed twice now if I am in H4 on a Snowy road and turn left slide/lose traction I will hear repetitive clinking sound... What the heck is that?

215k miles - have followed maintenance schedule

Sound from the front? Happens during turns? I would check cv axle.

It does sound like the sound is coming from the front.

I only hear this sound when in 4WD and I am turning and I am sliding. It almost sounds like anti-lock braking but more loud and I don't really remember feeling it in on the brake pedal.

    Traction control is on.

That's likely your traction control trying to straighten you back out.
If you're not familiar with it, it can be a bit of a surprise.

I have had the rude awakening of the VSC system engaging and scaring the crap out of me too. There is a button left of the steering wheel to disengage the VSC system. Pressing this once will allow to disengage but only below 30 mph. Above that speed, it overrides the button and VSC is active again. To truly disengage the system, hold that button down for longer than 3 seconds while in Park. You will see the TRAC OFF light come on to verify that it’s truly disengaged. This has been a game changer for me. Good luck.

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
First time I had the auto braking feature I thought I damn ruined something in my truck!

Still, if its only happening when you turn left, Id definitely check/be worried about the front cv, especially since you notice it only in 4wd. Im suspecting you've still left the truck in 4wd when you get to your destination and make hard turns parking or pulling into a location thats hard pavement.

I guess I will have to try turning right and attempting to slide/lose traction.

I did leave it in 4WD for the remainder of the trip which was entirely on pavement, but icy snowy pavement.

I do have my annual emissions/fog test next coming up, so I just may ask them to take a look at that...

Also, should kick in when losing traction going straight down a steep snow/ice covered incline while braking.:mudding:

To rule out the CV axle issue, crawl under the front of the truck and take a look at the rubber boots. Look for signs of grease leaking out or greasy build-up on the boots/axles.

And, I'm not 100% sure I would trust an emissions testing place to diagnose a suspension or driveline issue. Not sure about Utah, but in CA, they're just emissions testers, not a mechanic in any way.

It won't be just an emissions place. I'll be paying the premium dealer rate for emissions, 115k mi maintenance, and see what they can see without digging too deep. I have a pro mechanic in my family that would do any major repairs if indeed they find anything and he confirms their diagnosis.

    Awesome!

Hope whatever they find is a non-issue or easily/cheaply fixed. ;)
