Your best bet would be to get a wrecked 3.4 taco and get the parts off of it. You will need all the computer as well as the motor and tranny. I had a 98 Taco 4x4 with a 3rz def a great motor, I put 190k on mine and it was still running perfect the day I traded it in.

Homer J-could he smog that sucker w/a V6 having a I4 VIN? I always wondered. Hey I'd get a bang out of swapping my 3.4 for a 4.0:) if it would bolt up to the trans and smog.

I dont think there would be an Issue with emission as long ans he uses the same year or newer donor taco. I have seen a 4.7 V8 shoe horned into a 1st gen taco and that was a tight fit.

98+ frontend swap with clear headlights, tint, 6" fabtech, 15x12 powdercoated alloys, 35x15.50 SX's, 5.29 yukon gears, 1.5" wheel spacers, k&n filter. paint and line-x to come.
it would be much cheaper to sell your truck, take that money and add 1/2 of what it would cost to do that swap and go buy another truck.
