I just started my brakes today. Got ‘03 parts from RockAuto and they look nothing like yours.

I send pics of the new pads I got tomorrow, but I’m pretty sure you just got the wrong ones off RockAuto cause my new ones look nothing like those.

Have an 03 with 250k miles; never replaced the shoes or drums once. Meanwhile, my parking brake hinge assembly has frozen twice though...

Here’s the pads I got from RockAuto for an ‘03 4wd I think the brand is powerstop

this is the passenger side. As you can see they have pins for both the e-brake arm and the self adjuster. The e-brake arm is pressed in and there’s definitely no easy way to remove it without damage. The self adjuster pin is pressed and peened over so there is no way to remove and swap that one either. My guess is you just got the wrong pads.

Those shoes OP got are nowhere near correct even for the older style bottom mounting e-brake. In 2003 they changed to a top mounting (the e brake arm pins to the top of the leading shoe) and i don’t think that was a mid year change. It looks like they might be for a 2wd or 5 lug??

Every google search I’ve done of ‘03 drums turns up the correct shoes that I sent a picture of as well.

Make sure you adjust the BPV linkage and make sure your BPV isn’t leaking, that’s a common problem.

I don’t have my computer on me. I’ll check later, but there definitely is.

You can also just inspect the valve for leaks and corrosion. Leaking brake fluid will leave orangeish stains on the bare metal.

Trying to get rid of rust!
Have an 03 with 147k and original shoes + drums. My parking brake was seized inside the driver side bell crank housing. Recently,
I was able to get both bell crank housings apart and sand down all the rusty parts + surfaces and now my parking brake works!

Oh I also cleaned out a mountain of brake dust. Definitely worth taking the drums off and hitting it with brake kleen every 50k or so.
