I'm still waiting for the regional manager's approval which hopefully I'll know Monday. Then they'll know what else they will do for me. I just did springs, struts, and shocks about 20,000 miles ago.

I brought it home this weekend as I had some firewood in the back and we're expecting an ice storm and I wanted to have it. I'd try but it's too shitty out there.

I was thinking when I bring it back I'll ask them if I can get some pictures of the damage. I've known the sales manager at this dealership since he was a kid on my daughter's swim team so I'm hoping they will take care of me.

I got a new frame at the end of last year. Beginning of October I brought the truck in for an inspection and they found a hole in the frame. Within a week they had me set up in a rental truck, gave me a tundra. Everything was on backorder so they didn't even get all the parts in to start the swap for about two months. Once they had all the parts it was only about a week to do the work.

They gave me the option of supplying parts to install during the swap at no or reduced labor charge. I had them put new rear shocks on for almost nothing.

They called me with a list of "recommended" parts to replace that added up to about $7K. I asked that they don't do anything yet and I wanted to come see it while it was apart. After looking at everything and talking to the tech I only had them do about $500 worth of work. There were a few other things that needed to be done that I opted to have them put back together as is and I replaced once I got the truck back. Most of the things on the list I will probably eventually need to replace, but definitely didn't need to now.

Overall I had a great experience and am very happy with how it went.

    Thanks. That's great.

When I was a kid (early 70's) my dad ran the hobby class at the NASCAR tracks of southern Virginia (Langley, Southside, South Boston). We had a 59 Ford (Chevys outnumbered Fords 10 to 1). He wrecked at Langley and bent the frame. We got another 59 and in the backyard unbolted and tipped the body off, rolled out the old frame, and put the "new" frame underneath. I can still picture that body being tipped off by our hauler truck (a 55 Ford that used more oil than gas). We did it all in a couple of weeks working at night and weekends and he was back running.

I got my truck back Wednesday. Since it was a base 2wd they had the frame in stock. It didn't cost me a penny. The retail cost of the job was $11,288. It's running fine and it's great to have it back.
