I have a 2012 Tacoma with the basic stock AM/FM/Disc player radio on it.

I don't like having stuff sitting on the dash, so I'd like to replace the radio with a radio/GPS combination. Ideally, I'd like to have an open system that I can upload specific map content to rather than something that uses a proprietary base map only.

The AM/FM can be handy, but I don't care about the disc player, bluetooth, XM, etc...

Does anyone know of any options that would work which fit this description?

If I can't find anything I may end up putting my own together as a project. But, no telling how long it would take to get around to that.

Pretty much anything you get indash for gps will have Bluetooth, and some sort of media playing.

I guess the biggest question you have to ask is how much do you want to spend?

There are Android units that will mirror your phone. (if you use your phone for nav) Or units that have built in nav.

No matter what head unit you get it's going to sound like crap because of the stock speakers. (hard to actually call them speakers...)

Yeah, not really concerned with the sound.

I may just end up building my own, I haven't really seen anything that isn't more concerned with being a radio than a computer and navigation device.

Hey OP - were you able to find any product that worked for your needs? I'm really interested in the same thing, don't care to much about audio but would love an in dash gps/com.

    Thanks.

Hi, no I haven't found anything else I liked, I've just been using my phone.

At this point I think I'm just going to get the bomb proof overland mount that attaches through the dash and put a tablet on it. That should give me room for the phone too.
