Help, I do not want a lift just direct replacement of my rear shocks, been trying to find best shocks. Very confusing reading these threads.

What are the best make and model to replace with?

a lift in the rear is done by replacing the leaf packs, not the shock absorbers. Go with anything Bilstein, the 4600's should be fine

but it depends on the model of truck you have. What is your tacoma's year? 6 lug? 5 Lug? 2WD? 4WD? TRD Sport? SR5? need some specifics.

You have the sport package and need to understand the difference between the sport and off road suspension. From your post, you only want to change the rear shocks. I'm not sure what your truck would ride like if you went off road shocks for the rear while keeping the front Hitachi shocks up front. Probably not so much where the average Joe would notice.

2015s still had the Bilstein shocks if I'm not mistaken. My 2014 TRD Sport came with the bilstein shocks. But like you said, I don't think anyone's going to notice the difference if they're just replacing the rear shocks with another oem replacement.

OP, I am about to replace my OEM front and rear shocks with another set of front and rear take-offs. However, I was about to go with the Bilstein 4600 because that's the next best thing for OEM, IMO. 5100's are 4600s with lift adjustments, so if you're like me and not looking to lift, get the 4600s if you can afford them. I got my take-offs from ebay for $175 shipped, but there is a member who sells them in the marketplace for $200 shipped.

How many miles on your truck? Maybe it's time to replace all four corners. Old Man Emu make a good shock for a reasonable price.

I have a Cap over the truck bed. The ride now is too bouncy, never been changed. Mileage is only 52k. There are 6 lugs, 4WD, TRD Sport and I just looked at the rear shocks they're the stock yellow Bilsteins. Could not get the model number will try again to get photo. But leaning to the 4600's. Just looking to get back to a smooth like when I bought it, No lifting required.

4600's or 5100's for the rear of the Tacoma are identical outside of their finish and boot. This includes their valving and collapsed / extended lengths. This info is straight from Bilstein themselves.

Needless to say some 4600's will do you solid and are drastically bigger than the stock Bilstein shocks.

All 2nd Gen (2005-2015) Tacoma TRD Sports came with Bilstein shocks from the factory, not Hitachi. Hitachi shocks came on 3rd Gen sports.
The factory yellow and blue Bilstein shocks are different from the 4600s. The 4600s have a thicker diameter.

Here is some info directly from the Bilstein site regarding the difference between the 4600 and 5100 shocks.
