What’s up guys. Think I’m gonna bite the bullet and get new shoes put in me 2019 sport this weekend. I’ve settled on the Cooper Discoverer At3 4s. I’m going to go a size up 265/70/17. Stock is 265/65/17. Since I’m going a size up should I replace the spare as well or is the size difference too minimal to matter?

Pretty sure the spare has zero miles on it. It’s the Toyo Open Country that comes stock.

Great call with those Coopers. My family have them on a bunch of Jeeps and they’re a great all-around AT.

Check out the link in my signature. A mismatched spare is fine if you’re using it just as a spare.

How many miles are on your current set of tires? Depending upon how much you drive may want to replace the spare due to age.

If you have to use the mismatched spare, try to stay out of 4WD. The difference in size isn’t that big, however it will put additional strain on the drive train.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
Good tire. I'm 8k into a set of AT3 XL's instead of 4S but have been running the Discoverer for years on numerous 4WD trucks.

Yes, change the spare so you have no worries with incorrect circumferences. I'm not sure about the 17" but the 265/75/16's I have do fit in the spare tire spot with no problem. I bought a 5th wheel so I could incorporate the spare into a 5 wheel rotation when I put new T4R Pro wheels on the truck but now I have 4 KMC's coming via FedEx from HotShot Offroad and I'm wrapping the OEM spare wheel in the Cooper spare instead now that I have decided to stay with the 16's.

Looks like his truck is a 2019 so the tire likely isn’t aged out

That is why I asked how many miles on existing tires. He may be able to run another cycle before needing to replace if he drives a lot.

I take the best looking tire from the old set and run that as my spare. But then again, I usually replace AT tires at less than 5 years and well before they get to Lincoln's head.

I have a 3 month old sport and just replaced the stock 265/65/17 with 265/70/17 Toyo AT3’s.

I take long trips in the mountains and dont want to be stuck with a smaller spare if needed so I also replaced my spare with a 265/70 as well. Just double check because even though the sport comes stock with 17” wheels my spare was actually a 16”.

Size difference is too minimal to matter for temporary use (until you get the punctured tire patched or replaced at a shop). I've run the same 3+1 setup for 1100 miles (highway and two moderate trails) with no issues.

Agreed, we all have open diffs. Tire size side to side doesn't matter unless you are crawling with the diff locked, even then you'll probably be fine.
These 5 swap guys get a little carried away with semantics.
