Thought this would be an easy job... Got a button from Taco Garage, popped the old, set the new --- nothing. Then it started but wouldn't stop. Got it it to shut off, now it feels like the OEM button doesn't want to pop back in completely. It wouldn't start, accessory, anything. Let it sit for a while and tried again, this time it works, but just doesn't feel the same. I think from the looks, the new button broke off, now I'm worried there's a chunk of plastic somewhere inside that assembly.. Any one have a similar issue?

Does it rattle if you shake it? Might have damaged / partially snapped the plastic backing somewhere. Does it feel loose?

I grabbed my reading glasses, light and smoe tweezers, looked and pushed around as best I could in the small space. Don't hear or see anything.

Did you disconnect the battery before messing with the switch?

Disconnect battery, wait a few minutes then reattach the battery. Sometimes the master reset does things you never suspect it would.

Then again this is another example of “I took a well engineered part, monkeyed with it and now it won’t work” syndrome.

I have one on the way. Now I know to disconnect the battery first.

    Update:
So start/stop working fine, but the original button would not clip in. Finally had a minute to investigate, the replacement I got broke when installing and there were pieces of plastic around the assembly. Using the “hook” tool provided I was able to carefully remove the broken pieces. Inspected the clips and the original button. All looked good and it clipped right in. Not sure why it broke, when pushing in I lined it up and pushed like I was starting it. Trying to contact the seller but no response so far.
