Has anyone replaced there windoors with sliding windows? I have a ARE and I’m sick of fighting the leaks from them. I wish I would have looked better at the pour design and craftsmanship. But that’s my fault. I would like to do it myself.

I have been considering getting a cap with windoors myself. Windoors just seem so practical. Are the leaks that bad?

I will say they are practical and do have a lot of benefits. I’m going to reseal them and see if that works. If it doesn’t then I’ll probably replace them.

Yeah constantly having to climb in to grab stuff from the front of the bed doesn't sound like fun.

Love my windoors and the convenience. Never any leaks, mine from Leer. After a rain or carwash the windoors retain some water which will drip, briefly, if and only if the windoor is raised above 90 degrees.

How old is it? The seals ARE uses are crap and probably need replacing and you may need to adjust the latches. I've replaced all of the rubber on my back window (including adding some extra foam) and I need to pull the sliding windows apart and replace the felt window channels that are falling out.

I'm not sure about the windoors, but the sliders have small drain holes along the bottom that get clogged and need to be cleaned periodically as well.

    Mine leaks when closed.‍♂️

It’s only 3 years old. I’m gonna try foam and look at the seals closer before I try to replace.

    Possibly.

Definitely check the seals. The foam bulb seals in my back window were flat and not doing their job very well. I got the third item down and it hasn't held up well either (https://truckoutfittersplus.com/truck_topper_parts/Topper-Door-Seals.html). A couple of years in and it's flattening out as well. If you do try to rig it somehow by adding extra foam make sure you get the closed cell stuff that doesn't hold water; Frost King for example sells remarkably similar version of both and places like Home Depot will put them next to each other- wanna guess how I know this. :homer:

As for changing the windoors to windows- possibly, possibly not. They use a couple of different types of windows and the openings vary. There should be a small plate, usually riveted to the inside roof on the driver's side near the rear, that has the model and serial number. You can call ARE and ask them if they have a window that will fit; last time I tried to call them they told me to have my local dealer call them with the info and question. :frusty:

What type of shell do you have? I have a CX shell on my tacoma LB with sliding doors and im looking into going the opposite direction. Trying to get some windoors lol. Do you know if they are just that easy to replace one from another?
