So I replaced the crappy coolant bypass pipe with the new metal one....awewome!
i replaced the manifold gasket and throttle body gasket when doing this job.

started the truck and it went crazy.....pulled the codes and realized the vvt position wire clip was not fullt seated.

now it starts, and runs smooth but when i let off the gas it dies in about 3 seconds....

    any guesses? no further codes.

also once it dies or i turn the key off, i can hear the electric motor in the throttle body spining constantly....as if its looking for the right position?

so....i went ahead and removed the throttle body again, lossened the intake manifold, retightened innner bolts to outter boltes like it says to. double checked all the connections....i still feel like i hear some kind of hissing or something? Im going to try driving it and see if that does not actualy help clear it up.

well, it drives as good as it ever did. the only problem is when i approach a stop sign or light and shift to neutral it wants to sputter and die on me again.

so this issue is definetly only at idle. i know i checked all my electrical connectors, and at this point if it missed one i wpuld likely throw a code which im not. all my vaccum lines are attached.

the only thing i can think of at this point would be a throttle body issue or bad intake manifold gasket?

is it normal when the truck stalls to hear the throttle body electric motor still be moving?

holy crap i almost forgot....the tgrottle body gasket i purchased turns out was to small. so i reused the old one
    ..that may be the issue?

First impression, massive vacuum leak. Change the T-body gasket and hunt for vacuum lines left unplugged.

so all the vaccum lines are plugged in that I can possibly find....getting the throttle body gasket has been somewhat problematic as all the parts stores have the wrong gasket listed under the 2.7L 2006 motor, its just simply to small of a diameter to fit.

I am going to try a throttle body gasket for the 4.0l throttle body and see what happens.

so I found out while looking around more and more that the large vac hose that goes from the rear intake manifold around the back of the head/block must have somehow came undone when I was trying to align the manifold to properly seat it. It was a pain in the butt to get it back on the manifold without unbolting everything but I did. Now I will finish putting everything else back on to test drive but I imagine that was the likely culprit!

ill post again to confirm or deny once done to wrap it up.

thanks for the help and suggestiins thus far from you fellow members.

what I can tell you IS NOT LEAKING though is the new stainless steel coolant pipe.

once again thanks tonthose of you who chimed in with advice.

This post just saved my but. Did the same thing, a partial rotate on the intake to change the bypass pipe and never even knew that hose was there.

@fastcatfur that was disconnected. I got that line back on. Now I'm running into the truck is only cranking and won't actually start and run. When I had that line was off it would start and run If I giving it gas but as soon as I let off it would stall out. It Now will crank but not fire. Any help or ideas would be so appreciated!

You may try resetting the throttle body sensor. Disconnect battery for 10 mins. Reconnect. Power on to acc and slowly pump in and out the gas pedal for a few mins. Turn off and then try to start. That vacuum leak makes sensor go crazy for awhile.

Yeah that little hose on the backside of the manifold can be a real bastard. The ends are two different sizes, I mean really WTH. When doing the bypass pipe replacement, I removed the stud on the upper right end of the cylinder head to get everything lined up, and then threaded the stud back in.
Same for me, wasted money on a new TB gasket that was too small. I re-used the old one with no issues. I will assume you inspected your old one before reinstalling it. Cracks or other damage could cause a vacuum leak which might make a hissing noise, but I can't imagine it could leak enough to kill the engine.

Did you make sure the fuel lines are hooked up the right way? they are right next to each other and easy to mix up
