    Holy Crap Kaleo

easy to say go to junkyard
    But
If you REALLY dig in/search, there are companies out there that sell exact pigtails for exactly what you need

Thanks for replying, first and foremost!
I’m just gonna play it safe, and buy it from the dealer, in addition to the IAC.

I’m more concerned if this happened because I didn’t disconnect the negative cable from the battery first. I don’t want to repeat this mistake. is that the reason?

I’m thinking, dealer will be able to sell
    But
They will make you pay for complete engine harness…..big $$$

as far as reason, I dunno
    No disconnect of battery possible
But I just did same job plus intake manifold/plenum cleaning/injectors/cups/fuel pressure gauge/new vacuum hoses/etc

Embarrassed to say……took 2weeks (bc of parts) and taco sat entire time with battery hooked up
Ugh……I’m going get killed here for not disconnecting battery

Thank you for this. Called two dealers, they don’t sell separately, part of the whole harness. $$$$$ Gotta go aftermarket.

Thank you for this. I have to go aftermarket, because two dealers say it’s part of the whole harness. Curious to why they only have it for the V6 and not the V4. Do you have any advice on how I can assure myself that the voltage would be OK for the four-cylinder?

You shouldn't have any worries about voltages because all you are doing in splicing in a section of wire and a connector.
You just need to be very diligent to ensure all wires go to the correct pin in the connector. I would cut and splice one wire at a time to prevent mixing anything up.

Got the pigtail connector ordered from rockauto, and was able to exchanged my IAC for another at O Rileys. Happy about that.
This time I will remembered to take the negative cable off the battery, hoping, and assuming that was the reason for melting the connection in the first place.

I’ll let you guys know what happens this weekend guys!!

I would suggest getting the part number for a 2.7 and a 3.4 IAC from Toyota, and seeing if they are the same or different. Connections don't blow up like that without a reason.

Just called Toyota. They said they’re different part numbers. The main difference is vacuum according to the parts guy.

Forgive my ignorance, but why would they give me a Toyota part number to compare, wouldn't they only have for the company that made the part?

They actually have a full cross reference from OEM part nums to various manufacturers part nums for the same part. So does RockAuto

Sorry, I could have provided a little more explanation... You wanna make sure that you got the correct part of the part store. Knowing that the Toyota part number is different from the 3.4 and 2.7, you need to make sure the parts store don't lump them as a one size fits all part. If Toyota has two versions, you need to make sure the part store is giving you the correct version. I have little faith in part stores.

    Update.
    Well guys, I got blessed.
Installed the standard motor IAC from O’Reilly, I was able to connect the new IAC connector from Rockauto, and attach to the wires from the harness.

fired right up and no check engine light. I thought I would have to drive it around a couple few days or 200 miles before the computer registered and the light would come off or the idle will come down, but actually it went down to 800 RPM once it got operating temperature the first time.

Thank you all for your help. I learned the valuable lesson and gain a lot of knowledge on this DIY project.

Unreal. Two weeks later, now I got a P0401 code. Still running and idling great though. Back to the drawing board.

Check engine light went off on its own.

I wonder if there’s an adjustment period or the engine and computer to talk to each other.
