...I assumed that since the terminals were in the back I was good to go...started to secure the lugs and the car horn started blowing and a few sparks. I realized then that the -/+ were reversed. Went back to Autozone and they acknowledge they gave me the wrong one. Went back to hook up and while everything lights up car won't start...nothing. Remote key does not work EXCEPT when I hit the OPEN..then the Right and Left blinks 3-4 times.

I've done some research and it appears that I've triggered the "passive" alarm system or something. Does anyone know what I need to do?

Start checking your fuses and see what you find

Did Ben really say that?? :)

I did check several I didnt see any thing...mainly the ALT and a few others....that fact that the "Hazard" blinkers lead me to think it's got something to do the this "alarm"...but you think fuses?

A friend hooked up a battery wrong in one of my cars a few years back. It caused sparks and a ton of the electrical system was fried. He only left it on the car for a few seconds but still melted wires. Took it to a shop and they fixed it but cost me a bunch of money. Hopefully its not this bad for you!

Yeah, he actually said "force shites upon reasons back" but yeah same thing.

And you would be surprised at what all can't happen when you hook up a battery backwards on stuff.

Had to hook up two different vehicles to my Cummins once. We used welding leads, and my buddy accidentally hooked one clamp to the wrong post. Blew the post plumb off the battery. Replaced the batteries, and all was swell
