Loud whinning sound (driver side) started on Tacoma last week - assumed it was either pully or alternator - sound gets louder with increased RPM - pulled belt off today and noise goes away, which leads me to believe is the alternator.

    2006 Tacoma - quad cab - v6 - manual tranny - non towing pkg - A/C
    126,000 KM

    Questions:

    1. Where do I find a good quality OEM alternator in Canada (or could be shipped to Canada) at a decent price?
    2. How do I ensure I get the right spec alternator (my assumption thus far is that I need a 90 Amp - is this correct?)
    3. Any suggestions regarding brand to either steer towards or avoid?

    Thank you in advance

    Lawrence

I'd look for a TRD alt from a junkyard. More powa!
