    First time poster...

Thanks to a bunch of threads here replaced the upper and lower ball joints and had a shop press in new wheel bearings...the issue is the Moog ball joint boots tore on install and having a problem finding replacement boots.

Any ideas on where to get a replacement Moog boot or recommendation for another brand of boot?

    Thanks!

    welcome!!

Not sure if you can get Toyota Ball joint boots or not I never looked.

Follow as many links as you can Maybe Get To Moog Customer Service they might say boots are not sold separate .

If your driving at all the ball joints are trashed.

If the first boots tore what was done wrong ?? Can the new boots be replaced and not get torn on installing the ball joints ??

I'm curious as well to know how you tore the boots on install.

An OEM boot probably costs as much as the moog BJs did, lol...

This place has a "live chat" you might be able to speak with a non-robot and get more info.

But as was said above, I would not drive with torn boots, dirt and grit gets in there and will ruin them. If you've driven on them, just get new BJs and be more careful installing them.

They’re a tight fit, no rings or wire to hold them on, just friction. After I read about them, learned the proper way...also moog doesn’t sell boots.

    However, https://www.suspension.com/universal-dust-boots.asp does.

For those that asked, hasn’t been driven yet, should be good to go.

    Thanks!

Funny thing is the Moogs (with grease fittings) I just installed are stamped 555.

I'm pretty sure 555 even makes the factory ones, too. But you pay an extra $50 a piece for Toyota to file off the 555 stamping, lol.

True. But the difference in quality from those VIP, Auto Zone, O’Reilly junk is staggering. My Orielly uppers lasted 3 months, the lower, 6 months. I gotta give them credit though. They honored the warranty. I bought the Moogs on Ebay, installed them and brought the junk back to the store. Credited my card, no questions asked. Lesson; don’t go cheap on suspension parts. Buy greasable stuff.

It doesn't need to be greasable, the factory ones aren't... I don't believe my 555's are either.

But yeah, avoid the store brand crap for sure. The Moogs I used to have treated me well for 6+ years. Currently running the 555s and plan to replace them fairly often (way more often than what is considered "normal"). They are super easy to replace, takes like 20 minutes.
