Interstate for me. purely because i abused the battery in my hobby car. let it go dead, not drive the car for months on end..trickle charge it back up, etc. that thing went on and on for 10+ years, until i sold the car. for all i know, it's still in there.

The battery in my truck won't last the night. Came home yesterday from a week long work trip, trickle charged it, drove it, parked it. Wouldn't start this morning. I charged it for an hour, started right up. Can not for the life of me find anywhere local that has a 27F in stock. Even the dealership has to order it, won't be in for 9 days. At least the dealerships is free, but charging my truck every morning isn't going to happen. Is there any other size that works with these trucks other than the smaller 24F?

Yeah, I always carry a jump pack with me. I got it at the Consumer Electronics show this year because the booth next to my company's were showing batteries and before they flew home they basically sold everything at or below cost. No idea what the manufacturer is but for 20 bucks I got it (that has something like 36K mAh on it) and a few back up cell phone batteries which come in handy for camping, plane trips, etc.

27F is what came in my truck. Problem is that I can't find one locally. I think I may just pick up an interstate 24F from Costco to tie me over until the dealership can replace my OEM one. I'll just have a spare battery afterwards.

Nothing wrong with a spare. Just store it properly and charge it up from time to time. Either that or put it on craigslist/alaska list. 24F will fit fine. I'm sure some others will fit if you are creative with the hold down. I personally would go cheap if the dealer is buying you a new one soon. I ran a 3/4 ton Dodge for the longest time with a small battery and some oak flooring under it to help the OEM hold down. Kind of strange that you can't find a 27F locally as there are shit tons of shops either in Anchorage or Eagle River. Anywhere from battery specific to generic parts shops. I bought my old Diehard at the Sears in Anchorage before moving to Texas for a year.

Thanks for the reply. Just wanted to buy one that works - There are so many different one - many models even at Harbor Freight - I've heard many don't work - Thanks again.

I actually tested mine (granted its the older model, not sure if they changed batteries but i doubt it, looks like just an updated shell change) and i completely removed the main battery on my truck and started it just with the jumper pack. It cranked slower but it started. So if the battery was dead dead, the thing will start the truck on its own which is cool.

Thanks. It's $60 now. Most reviews were good - Worst review was that the old all-red ones with the built-in voltmeter were better then the new one with red blinking lights. Thanks for taking time and your answer.

My OEM lasted 8 years - I thought that was phenomenal. I bought the Advance with power grid technology and use the 30% discount.

I replaced my OEM battery after 4 years, it was fine but I couldn't give it away - nobody wanted it. I recycled it.

I winch fairly often, so I put in a Northstar AGM 27F.

Most batteries will be fine if you don't mistreat them.

I stopped by AutoZone today to price their 27F. I tried both Costco and Walmart in my town and neither had a 27F. AutoZone price was $122 but you can get them on sale and they also have coupon codes online. Warranty was 5 years total with first 3 years new replacement, then last 2 prorated. Employee offered to check my battery and everything ok at this time. I just bought the Antigravity XP3 personal power supply so I am ready when my vehicles fail, also nice to be able to help others.

My OEM battery lasted 8.5+ years. I just replaced it with a 24f from Costco. I think it cost $85. The only difference between a 24f vs 27f is the run time(storage). Crank amps will be the same.
