For one thing, it depends on which package you have in the truck. Sport package #2 comes with high amp alternator. That makes a difference. Higher amp alternator will charge the battery more. My amps draw about 60amps of current, so I have a large capacitor. Capacitor reads 13.8.

In any case, 12.4 is still low. A good easy test. After you ran it a while, park it, put volt meter on the battery, let it sit, if after a few minutes the volt meter starts to slowly drop... Problem is starting.

Volt meter is $0.80 at Harbor Freight. Use, 20% off coupon, Buy scissors for $0.99 , use free coupon for meter :)

It seems like with most things manufactured today batteries also have planned obsolescence engineered into them. :(

I just took delivery of a Northstar AGM27F for my ‘07. I hope to install it next week. While I’m at it I will be installing a Blue Seas auxiliary fuse box at the same time.

Almost any auto battery will be 12.4v after killing the engine and it sitting for 5 minutes. You may see 12.8v immediately after killing the engine but it instantly starts to discharge from what the alternator was charging it to (~13.6-13.9). 12.4V isn’t low by any stretch of the imagination.

Maybe 3 Farad Capacitor has something to do with it... Dunno, but it is what it is on mine.

Some in here aren’t understanding that when it’s running, you’re reading alternator output (~13.6V). When it’s not running, you’re measure battery charge state.

This is a good point. I assumed that all readings are done while not running.
