So, I bought my truck with a cigarette burn on the driver's seat bottom. Additionally, the driver's seat is starting to wear quite a bit where I slide in and out of the truck. I really don't want slip covers in this truck.

The Katzkin leather kits look nice, but I really would be happy with just some fresh OEM seat upholstery. The dealer wants around 350 for the seat bottom and 375 for the seat back. Is this just a fact of life, or does someone here have a hookup on a reasonable price for the OEM stuff? Hard to accept that a complete leather kit for a double cab truck is only a couple hundred bucks more than factory cloth for ONE seat.

Does anyone make aftermarket cloth covers that go on like the Katzkin stuff?

I would go to an auto upholstery shop and get an estimate. Or a salvage yard.

I put a set of semi-custom sheepskin covers in my '08 SR5. They are not terribly expensive and are supremely comfortable summer or winter. The install will leave your fingers sore, but is doable by most anyone. Many colors are available...I chose natural:

No fuzz and the lamb's wool doesn't hold odors...standard practice for many pilots, motorcyclists, and truckers.

I would think some dealerships or upholstery shops would have almost-new oem takeoffs from truck owners that have upgraded to aftermarket covers.

I bought new factory foam and new factory covers for the driver's side for my 2007 PreRunner. Getting the old stuff off was easy, but I have a feeling getting the new stuff on is gonna be a little tougher! I will try to replace it this weekend, so if anyone has any pointers, please let me know!

Was about to say this. Wool is (surprisingly) comfortable in the summer & winter. Also, if you get a good set, they will have alot of the same properties as merino wool.

As for on topic, it's hard to beat Wet Okole's especially if you get in on the bi-annual group buys.

Way better than stock cloth IMHO, and available in all kinds of various patterns colors and styles.

I got just some plain black ones with all the hidden pockets.

I would say yes..... but I would double check. Also the fit is great but i did have to modify the front plastic clip where it snaps onto the seat frame . The front “corners “ need to be cut out. The factory covers has gaps where it connects. This one is continuous all the way. So I used a pair of side cutters and cut away the curved area and then it fits . Otherwise you’ll be fighting it for 30 minutes like i did

Adding to Tacoma2ndGen. I ordered the seat fabric from eBay and watched the “Tacoma Seat Repair” video on you tube. I replaced all of the hog rings with zip ties including zipping the fabric to the seat foam. I did not snip the curved front piece and it seems ok (I may have to revisit). The black side clips don’t seem to grip well or do much. I replaced the inside yellow clip on the side trim piece with a zip tie.

The color of the seat fabric looks fine. The fit is pretty good even though my fit is not as tight in the back corners as the post 15 picture above probably due to my mediocre upholstery skill set. Maybe it will settle in better after some use. My Taco is a stock 2006 with 206k miles. I am pleased with the repair.
