Just make sure his console has the 01-04 bracket that bolts to the console and tranny hump.

Your 98-00 bracket is not compatible.

Oh snap really? I always thought it was bolt on. What does it look like?

It is a direct bolt on fit to your tranny hump. The holes of the 01-04 console will line up with the holes in your tranny hump. However the bracket that holds the 01-04 console in place is different than the 98-00 one. The bracket from the 98-00 will not be compatible with the 01-04 console.

See #24 in the attached parts diagram

I see, so I should make sure the part #24 is included? Anything else I should make sure of? If I can't pick up this one, I may pick one up from my local scrapyard.

For those that have bought one used, what is a fair price to pay for a used center console?

Yes, make sure that bracket (#24) is included or else you will be on the hunt for that part. Other than that it's a direct bolt in.

I've bought two from the TW marketplace.

$55 for one and $40 for the other.

I just saw one sell in the marketplace for $110.

I was looking on eBay and they are around $170 used and like $250 new. Your find is a much better deal

The older these trucks get the more rare the parts get.

The 01-04 center console is a highly coveted creature comfort part.

I bought the $55 one about 7 years ago here. In fact it was one of the first things I accomplished on TW.

The $40 one was bought about 5 years ago IIRC.

I used the one out of a 4Runner cause I needed more cup holders and I wanted the center pull E-Brake.

Used a shorter brake cable from a Toyota van and just hooked it up to the pulley underneath. The new cable is a lot thicker so it won't fray like the original one.

if it doesn't come with the bracket it is easy enough to just bend some flat stock and make the bracket yourself. It is hidden underneath so a home built doesn't present any aesthetic issues

To confirm, yes this style console was in the 01-04 double cabs and extended cabs.
