    Hi

I am helping my good friend get his 01 2.7 4X4 Tacoma running after sitting several years after developing a miss.

Truck has a bad miss and showed a P0304 code for misfire on #4. I replaced all four plugs and swapped #1 and #4 coils and still had a miss on #4. Pulled the coil and plug to check for spark and its got plenty of spark.

That narrowed it down to a issue with the injector on #4. I checked the resistance on injectors #1 and #2 and got 14.6 ohms on both so now I had a number to work with for #4. ( I did verify that voltage was getting to the plug on #4)

I unbolted the fuel rail and popped it up enough to get #4 out (total PITA) and sure enough its deader than a door knob just reading open loop.

Local Autozone said they had two in stock, awesome, my friend returns with one.

Right off the bat there is a difference in the end that fits in the fuel rail.

    OE injector looks like this.

Notice the pink ring on the fuel rail end.

    Replacements looks like this.

No pink ring, just a metal lip.

When I installed the new injector it of course leaked on the fuel rail end.

So far all the local parts stores that carry them are all missing the pink ring.

    Is this replacement style correct?

Did a rubber spacer fall out of the rail when I removed the injector?

    Any idea?

Silly question but has to be asked.. you replaced the original with a brand new correct? You also made sure that no part of the old original was still in the duel rail before installing the new?

It's only supposed to be a friction fit.. and the rail only takes about 20 in lbs to snug up

What's the part number/brand of after market injector you linked?

I had an issue when I rebuilt my motor with the injector cups.. bought a felpro gasket kit and the orings for the cups were the wrong size causing serious fitment issues. Bought OEM Owings and everything snapped together perfect no leaks.

You may have a similar issue

This is the injector we first tried from autozone. The picture has the OE style pink ring but the ones in stock did not have it.

We ordered one from Advance Auto and its a intermotor brand, again the picture has the ring but the one he received does not.

They should have the ring. I'd check rockauto for their part number, that where I bought my replacements and they fit correctly.

I had him pick up a injector seal kit and it work, no leaks.

In the kit there is a seal you slide over the inlet side of the injector down past the o-ring. It looks different than the others as you can see the seal protrude a little but it is holding pressure and the truck is running smooth.

Now to replace the busted rear shocks, flat tire, and change the fuel filter.

I'm having a pink top fuel injector issue myself. Difference is I bought mine from a Toyota dealer.

I'm going to start a thread of my own so I don't hijack this one.
