I just bent the pins and everything is working perfectly. I think this is the solution.

Same issue with my '05. Took it out today and cleaned it all up. Tightened the pins with a super-small eyeglasses screwdriver and treated it all with DN5 Deoxit. Taped everything back real nice with new electrical tape and re-installed. Working great now. Hopefully it lasts. On a side note... I had critters build a nest in my blower area too about a year ago. Replaced the blower motor and cleaned everything out well. New cabin filter changed often as well. Maintain the cabin air filter! The blower motor is really easy to replace, when needed.

Glad to know it’s not just my truck with this issue. Will be trying this fix soon.

I had the intermittent problem then the fan finally stopped all together after I had just used it. So I replaced the resistor with a new connector(which has much tighter pins) since I had the burnt connector. But i'm still getting nothing out of the fan.

Any ideas? Blower itself gone bad?

Edit: how do you get the wires out of the connector?

Hey just thought Id share my experience with this.

Fixed it once at the connector.

Went bad again. Thought id save some money by not replacing the sensor, now I see I should have pulled it and looked at it first!

Off to order a new sensor...doh!

All better all speeds working, new sensor on the way.

Guess we'll answer the age old question...was it the connector that fried the sensor or the sensor that fried the connector?

Not really a fair test of the new connector since the oem sensor tab is already fried....

Do urself a favor and do both while ur under there.

Just glad our trucks arent burning to the ground because of this!

Thank u everybody for all ur help, again!!!!!

Do you have a link to where you got the parts that you could share? I am doing this soon.

When I ordered a bunch of stuff from Camelback Toyota, I needed a little more to get free shipping, so I added the resistor and connector to my order.

I just had to replace my connector and sensor 2 days ago. First problem I've had and only owned this truck for a month...

What did you use that was small and strong enough to move the connector?

Blower doesn't work. Speed switch only worked on high, then blower quit. Best info I could find narrowed it to the resistor that somebody told me regulates speed. Researched for weeks, found Alternate/OEM Part Number(s): 1468109760, 8713835040 Bought for $8.93 at RockAuto.

Repair manual said nothing about this so searched for and found this site, which had wonderful instructions. Did it in about 15 minutes in -9º while snowing. Thank you so much. Trouble is, that wasn't the problem. Next I'll pull the fan speed switch to see if it's burned.
If you need the resistor connector also, it's STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS S1519{#88987868} for $11.60.

Take your multimeter and check for voltage at the motor.

Muddinfun, thanks; how do I check voltage at the motor? I'll bet I have to find the motor, first. Know how to use a multimeter; just need to know how to find where to do the test. Having dificulty navigating this site.

Motor is a little ways to the right of the resistor. There's a 2 wire connector on it. The connector is famous for melting. Also, the motors do sometimes fail. If you do or don't have voltage at the motor, that will go a long was towards diagnosing the problem.

2005 PreRunner same problem for several years. I had to keep wiggling the white wire on the connector to make it run on another speed besides high. Finnaly got an electronics friend of mine to look at it. He soldered the white wire in the connector (poor connection) and have had no issues since. 307,000 miles and she just keeps running!

Thanks for the info. I just walked in and picked one up that was in stock at my O'Reilly's. Also got the 7/32 driver (5.5 mm) since I don't have one in that size. 40 bucks out the door. Looking forward to not being so aggravated by having to reach over and jiggle under the passenger dashboard.
