    Hi there,

My (recently replaced) catalytic converter was stolen from my '98 Tacoma ExtCab 4x4 (V6). This part was sawed out from the exhaust system, thereby damaging the tail and header pipes. Given my dissatisfaction with the previous catalytic converter, my intent is to replace the parts with genuinue Toyota replacements. Before I do this, am I missing an opportunity to replace these parts with a superior aftermaket alternative; and if so, what might that be?

    Thanks in advance,

    - Jeff

I don't think you'll do better than OEM cats. I've heard some have had bad luck with aftermarket cats, making their trucks run like crap. Where in SoCal are you? Carrie from Northridge Toyota can hook you up big time with your cat if need be.

I'm located in north San Diego county. I've been checking around for a TRD catback exhaust system, but there appears to be none available for this year/model Tacoma. - Jeff
