    Howdy everyone,

I'm looking at getting a folding tonneau bed cover, (either the bakflip g2 or fibremax). My truck does not have the plastic bed rails for the top of the bed sides. So I have 2 questions:

    1. Do I need to replace them for the tonneau cover to work properly?

    2. How do I find replacement rails? I've looked online and can't seem to find them. Maybe because I'm using the wrong terms to search for them. Are they even called bed rails?

Any help appreciated. Also thoughts on the two tonneau covers I listed. Thanks.

Which one should I have posted it in? I couldn't quite figure out which one made the most sense?

There's a Tonneaus/Caps/Shells subform, but I don't think you're out of line in the 1st Gen sub (I'm assuming this is where you originally posted it).

I'm pretty sure those rails were always optional accessories, and most trucks never had them.

My brother made these out of Redwood... but not sure how they would look/ function with a tonneau cover

I don't believe you need any sort of rail for the covers or camper shells. It's probably better that you don't have them since that's one less thing to leak.
