Replacement Radiator Options???

Hey guys, so I have the stock radiator with the pinch seems. Just started leaking significantly this past week. What are some good replacement options other than OEM? Pics too please.... TIA

 

I got a denso from rockauto for like 120$ shipped and it's been going strong for 9 months.

 

Anyone else have a suggestion for something other than the OEM radiator design?

 

Amazon, E bay they have them and I've used both with no issues. Fit was perfect.

I don't get too worked up on aftermarket radiators. I consider rad's a consumable part. You can change the rad cheaper than getting a fluid flush. Cheap insurance.

 

If you can fabricate one can install just about anything .

I am Old Fashion I like the Copper brass ones I use the same Radiator in Toyota`s from the eighties to 2000

I went with an OEM one. They aren't made in Japan anymore. They are made in Taiwan. But, a person on T4R.org said he had seen firsthand the quality of the Denso, Koyo and OEM and he said the construction of the OEM definitely looked superior to the other two. So, that inspired me to pay the extra money for the OEM one. It cost around $200 from Camelback Toyota but I figured the extra $100 is money well-spent if it means I'm getting a better constructed radiator. I replaced my radiator just for general maintenance because it was old and I wanted a little extra insurance to avoid a leak or a trans cooler failure (pink milkshake).

 

Denso aluminum radiator. 250 plus shipping. But that was for a 93 with a 3.slow. just had to drill mounting holes.

I went with the mishimoto because of lifetime warranty. I had to make sure I kept the receipt. Bought it off of Amazon but something was fishy. That chat is for another day.

 

Take that receipt n register it with mishimoto there warranty is great once you register. Used it in a wrx rally i used to run, went through alot of radiators.

 

Are there any options that don’t hang as low as the factory unit? Looking to avoid sticking a tree branch through it if at all possible.

 

You have the lower cover that protects the radiator.

 

I’ve pulled that off prepping for a custom front bumper (tube style).

 

Well look into stainless skid plates if the factory skid plate match your style.

 

It's longer because it shares responsibility with cooling your transmission.

 

I gotcha. So best to just protect it then? Any pics of the mishimoto rad installed?

 

If you get a parts store one without the auto cooler you might get more clearance down below. I haven't installed it since my engine replacement is taking a back seat to work right now. Before I yanked the motor I checked to see if everything lines up with the bolt holes and it does perfectly. If you're just concerned about how low things hang though, go with a manual trans only radiator if you have a stick.

 

Radiator from a 94 or older pickup is shorter, but mounts differently. Mismo makes am aluminum radiator, just need to weld on the mounts you need. And would need a tranny cooler most if there radiator are made for manual trannies.

One note on these they are not cheap. It is a race series radiator. So overkill for a dd.
