hello all! Atlas and LadyBits, my 1st gen (1998) Tacoma here!

My seatbelts aged pretty terribly and from the fraying, their effectivity plummeted and I wanted to replace them. I didn’t realize how much of a headache it’d be...

Very long, convoluted story short- I’m simply looking to find out if I can get two passenger side OEM belts from junkyards to fit both my passenger and drivers sides. I run a 2.7L, 4WD, ext cab. I’m hesitant to just buy it and see as I have already been duped on these damn belts twice now and have spent a pretty penny on two sets that were supposed to work but didn’t.

    Thanks in Advance!

Haha, goodness the irony. That’s the exact ones I bought that didn’t fit from that exact company even though my truck is listed as compatible.

    Thanks though!

You can't swap them because of the tensionners
Well, if you can figure out a way to take them off and put the good ones back on, yeah, you could swap them out... but it will be easier to instead find belts that are already for the correct side

Awh, so as much as the exterior layout of the assembly may look interchangeable, the tensioners are passenger/driver side specific

Yeah, So far there is nothing to supply me with anything but portions of the passenger side assemblies.

I do have access to a 3rd gen 4RUNNER (2001)’s seatbelts or a 1987 4Runner’s belts as well. I just haven’t been able to find a concise compatibility list to see if the swap would work.
