Hello Tacomaworld! I've been lurking here since this summer when I purchased a base '09 DCSB v6 4x4. Ive gathered a ton of great information on these forums and I have been able to do all my own maintenance on the vehicle. It is my daily driver and our family adventure vehicle. I have a 3-yr old daughter and 7-mo old son who I hope to expose the great outdoors regularly using this vehicle.

Right now I am working on improvements to make it more functional for those adventures. I am going to put a softopper on it. Problem is, it did not come with the side rails that sit within the bed that I will need to secure the topper to.

Can anyone confirm if these parts will fit, and if not, any idea where I can source a set?

*Edit. Is this the part # I need?

It says it’s the right part since you have the short bed. If you had an access cab it would take the long one. There’s only 2 choices.
    I think you nailed it.

Thanks for the reply...only reason I was second guessing is the vehicle fit tool on their website says it wont fit...but later 2nd gen model years would. I didnt think anything would actually be different

To assure yourself, you could compare the pickup bed dimensions to yours with the ones that it says it does fit.

That part doesn't seem that easy to find or confirm. For me anyways. If you want to make 100% sure, call your Toyota Dealer and see if they can give you the part number.

Thanks everyone. Can anyone comment if the end caps are actually necessary for anything or are they just cosmetic? A 6 pack of those runs $85 and I'll save some money if I dont need them. Also, does anyone know if the header rail is necessary to run a softopper or is just the side rails needed? You can tell im trying to be frugal in this...

purely cosmetic. and AFAIK the softopper only uses the 2 side bed rails, not the header.

If you looking for function not caring too much about looks this rails used to secure electrical conduit can be another option (frugal ) lol. Will look for pics on computer to see how I used it .

Thats a good tip. I ended up getting the factory rails, I got a little paranoid about being properly load rated if I'm going to attached a topper to them and I drive on the interstate regularly. I found them for $32 each so not too bad. Last question to finish this out....Does anyone have specs on the mounting bolts?

@hemitruk where did you purchase those channel strut bars? And did you have to do any cutting to get a decent fit?

Awesome and then did you buy the mounting hardware at the store too? Specific pieces and sizes you used?

I used 1/2inch carraige bolts and flat washer . Had to grind a little to fit . Yes homedepot carries the bolts also .
