my trd sport came with the firestones, and they are alright. How do the Toyos compare, and what are people replacing with? I’m using for commuting, looking for quietness, decent wet traction, occasional snow, decent wear. I have watched tire reviews and need more real world experience reviews.

What @Boghog1 said. A little pricey but worth every penny. I went from stock oem to Wild Peaks - no issues and I like them and they wear well. Next set will be Michelin LTX A/T2.

    Michelin.

Yes, they will be a little more expensive but the quality, handling, life and ride are there.

Michelin Defender LTX M/S. This is an all-season highway-oriented tire that is super quiet, good wear, and has great wet traction.

You already have all that with the firestones. When they wear down look at the michelin ltx or yokohama g015.

I have Toyo's on my truck. Their not quiet.

Mine are the AT version, so I'd guess the MT's would be a lot louder.

I got the TOYO A31 all season they seem to be a generic tire nothing too good or too bad except snow/ice not that good but that's mostly all the all season tires available these days

As noted Michelin are very good. Interestingly, my 2007 & 2014 Tundras came with Michelin. I stayed with the brand when tires were needed.

I was a bit disappointed that the TRD came with Toyos. Since this is just a street machine I’ll likely go to Michelin when new tires are needed.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
I've been running Michelin Defender LTX M/S as my Spring-Summer-Fall tires. They are wearing well, handling is great, quiet, hold well on wet roads. Pleased with everything but the cost (although they're worth it).

The stock Toyos have been alright so far...but I don't see them lasting past 30k miles, would not replace with the same. Michelin Defender LTX M/S is what I plan to get next.

    Michelin for all season tire.

But why not just use the Firestone destination until they are worn out and need replacing. They are good, I had them on snow and they are surprisingly did well. Although I have changed them out for a full winter tires.

Thanks for all the recommendations. I’m not ready to replace just yet, but I want to get an idea what people like. The firestones are adequate, could be slightly quieter but overall decent. I’m ok spending good money on michelins, I have had them before on previous car but it wasn’t a light truck tire. I will most likely get the michelins. I had advans before and they were noisy.

Our Chevy TrailBlazer has a set of Michelin Defender LTX. They've been on for 4 years, many miles, degraded road conditions (ice, snow, wet, gravel). I inspected them today while doing other maintenance, they look nearly new. Didn't measure the remaining tread depth, but really no need, not anywhere near the minimum depth bars.

I had Michelins on a previous car, and was not impressed with their wear at all. Granted, they were for a 2-door coupe and not a light truck, but I was seriously unimpressed with them. I ended up with Yokohamas after that and had great experience with them- better grip *and* longer lasting. Are the Michelin LTX really that good on a Tacoma? I currently have the OEM Toyo's on my 17 TRD Sport, and am coming close to needing to replace them, so starting to see what the trends are. Anyone have experience with the Cooper Discoverer AT3?
Also, are folks sticking with the P265/65R17's, or changing up the size a bit? Suspension, brakes, etc. are all stock on mine. No serious off-roading. Some gravel year round, snow in the Winter, but mostly ordinary road use for me.

So you selected the wrong tore for the application and it’s the brand of tire that failed. Besides things like number of plies and tread pattern, manufacturers use different materials for different tire designs.

yeah the ltx are pretty solid. their sport tires aren't really designed for tread life. i had pilot super sports on my evo and they were toast in like 15k hard miles.
