    Good Morning Everybody!

I'm still having a ton of trouble with the rear lights on my Tacoma after I swapped the bed.

Is there somewhere I can just buy a new wiring harness? At this point, I believe I'd be well-ahead if I just replaced everything from the closest connector, under the truck, all the way back to the lights. I'm going to buy new light fixtures as well.

    Thank you all!!

Carlos, let us know the specifics on you truck and I can get you a wiring diagram to solve your issues. It appears that there isnt any connection that I can see that separates the wiring that goes to the rear lights from the rest of the harness. If there is a trailer towing light adaptor this is usually where the problem is. If I remember correctly the ground for all of the rear lights is a white/black wire that is low on the A pillar behind the kick panel on the drivers side.

Will do. I was considering just splicing onto the wires somewhere accessible, and running the new wire with the plugs included, back to the lights.

After the bed swap, I had trouble with the passenger side blinker fast flashing when I'd hit my brakes with the blinker on.

Then I worked on it for a couple hours, and got the blinker working properly, even with the brake, or tail lights on.

Next, the brake light on the driver side stopped working, as well as the tail light quit working on the passneger.side.

I took it over to a buddy's shop, he did some checking and thought it was as.simple as a couple of bad bulbs. (When he removed the passenger side tail light bulb, it was very hot, and hadn't been turned on. He thought maybe the bulb had shorted internally and was causing trouble. (I didn't have any replacement bulbs on hand at that moment.)
So I picked up a few, came home and installed them. At first, the tail light worked. Then after driving the next say it quit working again.

So, again- just to summarize- as of RN I have a passenger side rear blinker not working. It fast flashes because only the front is lighting up. The brake light on the driver side is out, and the passenger side tail light is out.

    It's a 98 4wd extended cab with the 2.7 manual.

    Hope this helps.

The hyper flash of the bulb indicates that there isnt enough resistance in that circuit, either the front turn bulb is out, or wrong or not making contact… are you using LEDS or incandescent bulbs?

I traced them earlier today, they're not being pinched. I'm going to try to print the schematic Gman shared, and figure out what's miswired.

Thank you again for your help!
I took things apart, reviewed the schematic, and noticed a pass-thru that was not being used connected near the passenger side light. I removed it, and everything works perfectly again. I’m thrilled.

    Here’s a pic of what I took IMG_0022.jpg out.

I only took a couple of the truck with the bed off, just to capture how simple they’re built.

You may have trouble with rusty bolts. Several of the ones on my truck had to be cutoff with a torch. There’s a channel, or rail, of sorts that runs left to right along the bed. There’s nuts welded inside these channels, where the bolts attach.
After that many years, the bolts bond to the nuts, you’ll turn them hard enough with tools that the weld will break loose inside the channel. Then they just spin with the bolt, there’s no way to hold them.

it’s not the worst repair, but not the easiest either. I’d recommend spraying them with PB blaster for several days before attempting to remove.

Good luck. Don’t let this discourage you, I’m only letting you know what to watch out for sir.
