Yeah, I was looking at this

    https://www.toyotamcdonoughparts.com/oem-parts/toyota-clutch-assembly-8841035340/?c=Zz1odmFjJnM9Y29uZGVuc2VyLWNvbXByZXNzb3ItYW5kLWxpbmVzJmk9ODQxNDA5NTUmcj1sYXllcl8xMiZhPXRveW90YSZvPXRhY29tYSZ5PTIwMDQmdD1iYXNlJmU9My00bC12Ni1nYXM=

Wondering how hard it would be to install. I'm guessing easier than just replacing the bearing as you did?

Will have to try to look through my FSM pdf when I get home.

Oh yea, it should be a bit easier to just swap those 2 front parts out...no bearing pressing involved....you only need the front 2 pieces of that diagram - the cover plate and the mag. clutch, the 3rd piece with the hoses...should not need to be replaced...if you do remove that 3rd plate with hoses, that would be a complete system drain and refill....

Gotcha. I figured as much. If that's necessary I'd just fork over the money to get the whole compressor replaced. But I'm gonna try to just replace the clutch myself.

well now that I'm looking, no so sure the illustration or prices are accurate.. different diagram on this page:
    https://www.toyotamcdonoughparts.co...ressor-and-lines-scat/?part_number=8841035340

The weird thing is the entire clutch assembly is $158, if I just buy the two parts you said to get it would cost $212 just for the rotor portion. I'll have to call the parts dept and see what's up.

You guys seem to know what youre talking about regarding the compressors, My compressor is shredding ac belts like nobody's business. I just replaced the idler pulley and it spins freely. Would a bad bearing cause this? I dont have any of the squeaking other members are describing.

could be the clutch bearing or your compressor seized... hope it's not the latter.

The bearing on my Ac compressor has taken a shit. Clutch is fine, bearing is whirring away.

Here’s my question....I can’t seem to find a compressor clutch assembly. I’d like to replace the bearing. Did you need to have the compressor off to replace the bearing? Or is the bearing attached to the clutch, and you can replace the bearing with the removed clutch assembly on the bench?

Yes you can. Someone has shared the part on here before. Just search clutch AC bearing and you'll find some posts in relevant threads. Just have to tap out the old and tap in the new.

So I hate to resurrect this.....but I have an 02 tacoma and I'm not sure how to keep the clutch still to get the bolt off. I got the tool to hold it but mine dose not have the three holes to attach the tool. If I put the belt on would that hold it tight enough? Any suggestions? Thanks

My oil filter wrench ended up working to hold it still
