Lights replacement, and mudflaps so far....
So i just purchased a 2017 Tacoma SR5 and began the road towards modifying it. The side mirrors are standard, no blind spot detection or turn signal lights. So I bought a pair from Partsgeek.com for a decent price. Did I waste my money? Can I upgrade my standard side mirrors with the new features and is it just a quick plug n play? And If not could someone explain how to do it? Anything is helpful, thanks

for turn signals you can run a wire tap through the door, into the cab, into the engine bay and tap to front signals I believe.

BSM... not sure. It’s a sensor so it needs power to sense and some sort of module to compute. Not sure if it’s just needing a power source and a stand alone sensor function.

@Jaytacomane Welcome to the forum from Eastern North Carolina.

The SR5 does not have the wiring for either the blind spot indicators, or turn signals in the mirrors. Neither does it have the BSM sensors in the rear bumper.

One alternative to BSM is to replace the mirrors (just the glass part) with some that have built in spot mirrors.
I chose to replace mine with Rav4 mirrors, and am very happy with the results.

Here's a link to a thread about the Rav4 mirrors.

Suma performance also has a wide angle version with bsm, built in turn signal indicators and heated.

I’m a fan so far after a a few months

Update: My mechanic helped install my new mirrors, and the turn signals work perfectly. He had to tap into the front turn signal wires to so, and the heat warmers for the mirrors were plug n play. I upgraded the turn signals for the smoked out Meso ones as well.
