I think most of you dudes are missing the point of the backup cams. They are not for the clueless. They are to save the small children that play behind vehicles without us knowing it when we back up. We are not perfect. The horror ? Yes. If it saves one life its a great thing. And it will !!!

Backup cameras are a great tool for hooking up your truck to a trailer or if you got a ton of shit in the bed and need to backup.

They are NOT designed to be used exclusively for backing up. Turn your neck and look and quit being a generation of victims....

OP Im just venting because I have almost been hit twice by teenagers who were backing up and the "back up camera sensors" didn't go off. Your intended use sounds legitimate....

Backup cams were implemented because of a driving safety act named for Cameron Gulbransen, not because of people who don't like shiny mirrors or want to hitch up a trailer ! You can't see a victim behind you no matter how you turn your neck.

Unfortunately, I know someone who's daughter would probably still be around if backup cams had been in place. You can't see a little kid that runs behind an F350 with just mirrors. Happened to a friend of mine and messed him up real bad (No, he wasn't the driver).

BSMs and all that other stuff don't serve much putpose IMO since you can actually use mirrors for those situations, but backup cams are a fantastic improvement because they provide coverage of a true blind spot.
