If I do end up purchasing new CAs I will absolutely do that. My family friend and mechanic was blown away that the uniballs were not protected. Its especially and issue for me living in New England; salt exposure much year round.

I thought they fit too. Then I mocked em up and went d'oh!! At this point, I may take mine apart, clean and lube, then reassemble. I think if you wipe em down after mud/sand/salt/etc and reapply lube they'll last a long time as is. I Would prob lube em a lot less with caps (though cap may make more lube unnecessary...)

I think caps would just make things worse. They need maintenance and covering them is only going to trap moisture and other things. Keep in mind even if you cap the top the bottom is still exposed.

It the nature of the game with parts like this. If you want less maintenance then go with the ball joint type.

I ran the icon caps, held moisture/grit and some surface rust started within 5 months even with monthly cleaning. Took them off.

Just spray them out and keep them lubed and you'll extend the life far better than those caps will.

The bottoms are just as bad. When in lube mine I do top and bottom. You don't need much but you want to make sure you have a light coat over the surface.

I can't stress enough the importance of maintenance on uniballs. They should be replaced every year if you off-road often or about every 2 on a DD.

Not my pic but an example of the bottom without lube.

It's not that bad. I love the amount of movement you get out of them. I have both UCA and LCA uniballs and the truck feels solid.

You just can't ignore them like ball joints. I have a little bottle of Triflow in the truck at all times. So everyone once in a while on a fill up, I'll grab a paper towel at the pump, wipe them down and then add a few drops of lube. If they get caked with mud or dirt, I hose them off, wipe and lube.

That's why I'm surprised camburg will warranty the balls since they do wear out over normal use. I've already replaced them once on my 1.25's.

Just spoke with Carlos at Camburg and they will not be offering me replacement uniballs. The kit that includes replacement uniballs and bushings and all necessary accessories will cost me $320...with shipping. At this point i think I'll be better off replacing the entire CA. The poll hasn't had many replies, and I should add the $320 price tag to the replacement option. Any suggestions?

Damn that's a lot but so is $280 more for new UCAs. Camburg makes balljoint UCAs that are far easier to maintain and cheaper replace than uniballs. I think they are a bit cheaper too. I don't think u significantly sacrifices that much articulation but its a tradeoff. What do u want more?

Good reason to go with the BJ version is their relatively worry-free nature. And I watched @BudMan wheel like a badass with them so I bought his (rebuilt) Camburgs when he went uniball. Just have to hit the bushing zerks at oil-change time.

The Camburg Bj arms are quality. Had em for two years, 20k miles, and a dozen wheeling trips. Ran my stock oem bjs, Never had an issue with em. Upgraded to uniball when a killer deal fell on my lap.

How often did you grease them? And did the poly bushing make any noise?

    Thanks

They started to get a bit squeaky about a year in. Greased em then once, no more squeaks. Just the initial install other than that
