    Hi everyone,

Some how I managed to bust my cigarette outlet socket in my 2011 4WD tacoma, I've looked everywhere without luck on how remove the cigarette socket in order to replace it with a new one, I've managed to get it partially out (part of how I end up screwing it up) but I can't get it all out also i don't know which part of the dash to remove in order to get access to it from behind, any help on this will be really appreciated!!! Thankss!!!!

It's going to be somewhere between very difficult to impossible to replace it without removing the panel. Removing the panel requires removing a whole bunch of other pieces first.

The dash in these trucks often require a piece to be removed before the piece your trying to remove can be removed. It goes together like an overlapping puzzle.

all of this - in this order :

( mine is an 06' but should be the same )

    1. drivers sill plate
    2. drivers kick plate
    3. cluster cover
    4. drivers lower dash
    5. radio bezel and ac controls
    6. radio
    7. glove box and liner
    8. the entire piece the radio and ac controls sits in.
    9. whole center console
    9. that piece with the cig lighter

Sounds bad but once you have done it and seen how it is layered it takes 10 minutes. All you need is a phillips and a 10mm socket.

I replaced mine without pulling the dash apart. If I remember correctly the socket is in 2 parts. I was able to use a small screw driver and push in the sides until I was able to pull the assembly out with needle nose pliers. This only works if you plan to replace the complete assembly. If you want to reuse the assembly then you have to tear your dash apart to get to it.

This is true you can collapse it upon itself and pull it out but it would also be difficult to install and new one without being able to access the back of the panel too...

The lighter is secured to the lower dash panel with a sleeve. Looking inside the lighter socket, you will see where the tabs that lock it are. Pry the socket tabs (2), into the socket a little bit and it'll unlock.

Once you have the old socket and sleeve out the new sleeve just pushes into the opening. The sleeve has little grabbers (for lack of a better word) that once it is push in it can't be pulled out. I have a 08 and did this. When you have the new parts it is easy to see how it all goes together.
