I'm going to be replacing my driver side CV Axle, and have the remanufactured OE one in hand already. I wanted to see what other items I could easily add to the list of replacement items while I'm in that area of the truck. Looking to keep the project to a one day affair.

I have lower ball joints also ready to go and plan on replacing these while I'm in there, but also am thinking the end links would be a nice addition to the project. Is there anything else that'll be worth adding to the list? I do plan on replacing all of the suspension components, as they appear to be original on the truck, at some point in time but that'll be another full day project in the future.

    4 run, 2 don't
CV axle replacement is a half hour job.

Replace the seal if it's leaking; if it isn't...I'd opt to leave it alone but that's just me.

If you do replace it, remember the seating depth is 5.5mm

Out of everyone, you should know better.... No repair go according to plan. 30 minutes usually turn into 4 hours, while spending 1 hour looking for nuts and bolts that you misplaced and another hour for cussing.

This has certainly been my experience, as well! lol

I'll consider the seals, maybe get under to see if I can tell if they're leaking but if not I'll probably leave them alone for now.

Drop bracket lift and booger welds
The one side bottoms out, forget which one. The other side I use the CV axle itself to seat it lol.

don't touch the CV axle seals if you don't have to, things are a bitch to get seated. Probably did mine 3 times before it finally seated right and 1 year later it's seeping again :annoyed:

If you need to do the LBJs or outer tie rods, this would be the time

I tried that method the first couple times and for some reason it just didn't work for me, kept on leaking. Have heard some people have success with it, roll of the dice I guess.

I bought the Wits End seal presser that's supposed to seat it just right, after the last time I did it. So this next time we'll see how well that tool works
