I have a 2007 Tacoma and I hooked it up to my computer after a check engine light. It said the electronic solenoid D was not operating properly. I bought part i really want to put it in myself because it will cost me and arm and leg to take it to a shop. Has anyone changed one before? if so is it worth taking to the shop or do it myself?

If you are comfortable removing the transmission pan and the transmission filter, the replacement is reasonably straightforward but involved. It all depends on your skill level and ability to pay attention to detail in removing and replacing the parts. I have never done it on a Tacoma but did do it on a Camry a number of years ago. I'm assuming it's similar, but not sure. A little messy, with lots of transmission oil dripping from everywhere while disassembling the parts, IIRC.
