While riding yesterday I thought about it and did some close listening to the sounds. I noticed a large part of my issue is road/wind noise. I've been accustomed to those noises for so long that I ignore them but they seem to drown out/distort the music from the radio at certain frequencies. I pulled over to a stop and listen to just the radio and was okay with it's sound. Okay but not enthusiastic. I don't play the radio loud. I am also cursed with a small wallet.
So now my research is toward the wind/road noise deadening. My tires are highway tires, not off road tires. I don't have a roof rack. I think I'll get my wife to drive while I use my handy-dandy cell phone with the db meter app to do a little investigating randomly inside the cab. I'll post results.
