I'm looking to put a new head unit in my 2005 Tacoma. Running the stock unit now. Most likely replacing with a Pioneer AVH-X4700BS.

I just have a couple of questions.
First, is this a easy job for somebody that has never switched out a head unit? I am fairly mechanically inclined.
Second, what besides a dash kit will I need to purchase for this install? Will the stock wiring harness and steering wheel controls work?
Might get the bypass to play DVD's while moving but not sure yet.

Not looking to add a backup camera at this time and I'm an Android user

    Thanks for the help

For sure, you will need a 'Pioneer to Toyota' harness adapter. Around $20. It makes the wiring 'plug and play'.
I installed a Kenwood HU years ago and had to get a 'Kenwood to Toyota' adapter.

So I'm just about to start this install and I don't see where to connect the green parking brake wire from the stereo to the Metra wiring harness. Is this only for the parking brake bypass or am I missing something?

When I installed my double-din Kenwood unit, it also had that Parking Brake wire. I just left it disconnected.

Yeah except it's not recognizing my USB drive. Everything else works fine

Anything plugged in via USB or a specific drive you're using?

If you're looking to do a bypass all you need is a four pin relay look up the video on YouTube. Really simple fast and cheap. Works awesome on my avh 5700

This is how I've got mine set up just tapped a ground behind the dash and stuffed the relay in the back out of the way. Had it in for a while now and no problems yet.

It recognizes my galaxy s6 and the light on my thumb drive turns on when I plug it in. So i know its getting power. The USB icon on the screen just stays greyed out. Might grab another USB to see if that works. They are pretty cheap.
