Gonna be replacing my injectors next week and just wonder if there’s any sensors or anything that you guys would reccommend to change/replace while in that far in. Thanks in advance!

    Pic for attention...

Hey Brandon, just my 2 cents.....while you have easy access to the top of the motor, I would replace the Engine Coolant Temp Sensor. I recently replaced the radiator/thermostat, & hoses on my 2003 3.4 V6 and replaced mine since it was pretty easy to get to with the hose and timing cover removed. I wasn't having any issues with mine, but since it controls a number of things on the motor, I replaced it. Glad I did because the plastic connector to the sensor was so brittle from heat it broke off while removing.

On the 3.4 it's located behind the upper radiator hose.
You just about need a flashlight to see it. You have to remove the front fuel rail bolt to access it.
You'll need a deep socket 19mm to remove the sensor. When you remove the old one, be sure to keep the brass washer. You'll need to use it on the new one.

Are you planning on removing your intake manifold to put in the new injectors? I thought it was required but i couldn't remember for sure. If so you should replace your knock sensors and also clean out your intake manifold as well to remove all the carbon build up.

the little coolant hoses that go to the IAC would be a good idea while you can get at them...

I would be super mad at toyota engineers if they put injectors under the manifold. lol. Wont be going that far in. only reason to go that deep is for head gaskets, the knock sensors or pigtail harness, or piston rings. plus, i've noticed the 3.4 is super picky and only like the denso knock sensors which are $$$.

thought it was just vacuum lines that go to the IAC, coolant lines to the throttle body??

Taking off the manifold isn’t too bad of a job if you’re interested in it. Maybe 45 minutes. Depending on your mileage it may be worth the time. Some people freak out on the amount of carbon build up inside those runners. Also, some guys have replaced their knock sensors with GM sensors and they actually work better than the stock ones. Check out @Brice turbo build. He could probably help you out with part numbers if you’re interested

Yup I have 10k on my GM sensors, no problems so far. They are a physically more robust unit with the same frequency as stock, but at only $30. Taking the manifold off is super easy too, I've got my time down to 10 minutes. The injectors also aren't hard to remove, just organize your parts and remember where they go or do what I did and take the whole thing apart 17 times and you'll have it all memorized.

Here's my stuff on the GM sensors. I believe the part number is SU1075 by duralast or wells.

100% required to remove it :D
It is a 3 piece manifold though so you only have to remove parts 1 and 2, but I would remove the whole thing and do all the gaskets while I was there, but if you remove the third last piece you have to drain the coolant. "have to" I didn't drain it but you're supposed to.

You can only do one side without removing the manifold. It's required to remove manifold to replace all 6 injectors.

That's a kick ass solution to the knock sensors too, but if I can find denso's and pigtail for $60 on ebay like @1997tacomav6 is saying, ill probably just take that route when I do have to replace them.

False. it's a two piece intake PLENUM and a cast manifold . I'm really not trying to go past the point I need to to change the injectors. Black Friday just happened and the knock sensor job would add another $100-130 to the task. I just can't justify those parts right now when they are still functioning. And if I have to tackle it later, the plenum gaskets are less than 20 bucks. At this point in time, i'll take the hit of the $20 later on down the road. Also, i was drooling over that turbo setup!:drool:

Thanks man! It's the CBI DIY MOAB 1.0, a friend of mine down the street tacked it up for me last night and is finishing up the rest of it over the next day or two. Only took us two hours to get the stock one off and then get the kit tacked up. I'll post a pic up when it's all done.

Top two pieces are the intake plenum, the third piece, where the injectors fire into, is the manifold. And even with the passenger side, you still have to remove the plenum because of the fuel rail.
