Ok perfect, thank you! Did you replace any of your JBL speakers besides the sub?

I replaced all the door speakers and tweeter. The only thing I'm using from the factory is the head unit.

I got my truck a year ago and I posted about the bass sounding week driving home after work specifically in the summer time... no one else seemed to have this problem. Guess I'm not the only one.

that kenwood, maestro combo is great. I've got it powering the entire vehicle including the sub, aftermarket crossover makes the doors/front corner speakers into two channels instead of 4.

You can fit the kenwood amp under your passenger seat if you purchase a seatjacker system for that side.

btw I'm using the factory sub enclosure and get great sound. had to dynamat the entire thing and I changed the woofer out though for a kicker. aftermarket sub may be worth it but it isn't necessary.

Do you know how many watts your pushing to the sub? Interesting that you are using the oem enclosure.

So does the kicker sub fit in its enclosure? Do you have a picture of it?

I got some aftermarket JBLs. They werent plug and play. If you order from crutchfield though they have plug adapters and brackets if you need them.

Not sure on the wattage. They do make a difference especially the tweeters in the dash. In my opinion yes you should replace them especially since you are replacing the amp. It seems you have caught the audio bug. Next you will be asking about sound deadening. Which I think is the most important and you see the biggest change. :spending:

Haha yes I can’t do anything without music so I knew when I got it it needs to be done. Are the tweeters JBL too?

Perfect thank you! I might try his method and use the same JBL sub enclosure with the kenwood and AR. I will also replace all JBL with after market JBL speakers as well.

    Sorry its a RF sub.

Rockford Fosgate P3SD2-8 8" Dual 2-Ohm Punch Series Shallow Mount Car Subwoofer

    Its perfect.

Using the Kenwood system so I think 100 watts RMS to each channel on a 2 channel subwoofer.

Oh ok perfect, I’m probably going to get the JBL aftermarket speakers as well and if I can use the OEM enclosure that’s even better.

Was the RF sub a big difference?

Once the amp was in the sub did make a difference. Adjusting the settings on the DSP and making sure I had my polarity correct made an even bigger difference. I think that swapping out the front door woofers and the subwoofer will give you a suitable bass response for most music. An aftermarket sub enclosure for the back can get you a suitable bass response for almost all music and if that isn't enough then you can add in an epicenter.

If you really want the sound to shine then go ahead and soundproof the doors, the outer skin and the inner portion. Soundproof the back wall behind the rear seats if you're really bored.

Best bang for your buck comes from changing out those front speakers, the issue with going the route of a component system is that there's nowhere to put the additional tweeters.
