Sorry if this has been addressed in a previous thread.

My Dad has a 2018 Sport. He received 2 key fobs from the dealership at the time of purchase. About a year ago he lost one of the fobs. He's been getting by with the one, but would like to have a spare. The Toyota dealership wants $400 to replace it, ace hardware would do it for $200. He went to ace but was told that they couldn't program a new fob because records show that there is already two keys for the truck. Anyone run into this issue before? Any solutions.

    Thanks

You might try a proper locksmith. It can have up to 7 smart fobs. The fast way is to simply add a new one as the third. The correct way is to remove the lost key from the system and add the new one as the second.

Bought an unlocked FOB for 54 bucks. It was a knockoff. Downloaded tech stream from a link here and 2 minutes later I now have another FOB. It was extremely easy. BTW this was the fob for a push button start

    Yup^^

If you and your dad both have Tacomas, you should look into getting a Tactrix cable and Techstream. You can program your own keys, perform some minor customizations on your truck, perform ECU TSBs, and use it to troubleshoot error codes when your trucks both get a little older and start needing maintenance.
