Replacing Knock sensors and harness in 3400

    who has tackled this and how tough to get at was it? I've been told there are two differant brands of sensors one brand I can get at Napa the other only Toyota.

    Go with oem stuff. Their located under the intake plenum in the valley of engine. Pretty straight forward but it takes a while to get everything unbolted and out the way. Youl probably want to change all the intake gaskets too.

    If your only throwing a code for one bank a temporary solution is to splice the signal wires of the 2 together. This will atleast get your truck out of limp mode.

    I bought the harness , genuine toyota ,and 2 knock sensors , also genuine toyota , from Amazon.
    Harness was 34.00 , sensors were 98.00 each.
    I did not replace the gaskets, I had recently replaced the entire top end, and the gaskets are mls , and can be reused if you don't damage the lowered gasket that has rubber inserts at the water jackets.
