My 2013 Tacoma needs to have its original muffler and tailpipe replaced. Is there much difference in in price and duration having the work completed by the dealer or one of the everyday muffler shops. Not sure where to bring it.

Dealer will just charge you for a full brand new exhaust at retail price + install. That will be very expensive, they'll need to order parts... A local muffler shop will remove the busted parts and weld in new, aftermarket parts. That will be much cheaper and they can probably do the work same day.

Personally, I'd find a used exhaust on Offerup or Craiglist and install it myself. But around here good condition, stock exhausts are plentiful, not sure if that's the case with your region.

Thanks for your input. You confirmed what I thought about bringing it to the dealer. My independent guy said he was unable to find my parts. Looks like I'll be seeing a muffler shop.
    Thanks again.

Second on the muffler shop. A good muffler shop will be quicker, cheaper, and of the same quality as the dealer.
