    Hello Tacoma World folks,
I'm a longtime Tacoma owner and I just rejoined TW to get some info on accessories for my soon to be 2018 Double Cab, long bed. (small caveat; I joined the group under my work email years ago, never posted, and thought it would be simpler to rejoin via my home email)

Last November 30 my 2010 Access Cab was demolished in a head on collision. The other car was traveling 59MPH in a 30MPH zone and crossed the center line less than 2 carlengths in front of me. I was traveling 31MPH and was forced backward about 30 feet. The investigating officer also told me my backward "speed" was 32MPH. The Air Bags worked perfectly as did my seat belt and the cabin did not collapse.

I was able to force myself out of the truck and with the help of a bystander I cut myself free of the seat belt. I felt really beaten up and had a lot of chest bruising and rashes from the seat belt but no serious injuries. It was dark and I was taken by ambulance to the ER where I was released the next morning. The next day my wife took me to the towing yard and here are a couple of pictures showing the damage. The Towing Yard guy was surprised to see me walking (I also can't believe that I got out of that collision with minor injuries, but I still hurt!) and was extremely helpful in aiding me as I retrieved my possessions.

Needless to say, I want to replace this great truck with another one and so I am now in the process of purchasing a new truck.

My wife owns a 2010 Double Cab and I also own a 2013 Access 4WD. All of our Tacomas are Barcelona Red as this one will be. This time I'm going to buy a Double Cab with the long bed in 2WD. I commute 66 miles each day and was getting 27 miles per gallon from the Access Cab. I know my fuel economy will be less with the DBL long bed but it will still be better than I'm getting with my 4WD.

Anyway, I'm heading back to finsh dinner now so enjoy the pictures and I'll have more postings as I get used to this forum.
    Marc

Damn glad to hear you are ok after all of that. I hope the other driver got the book thrown at them.
